Cruise day 101 – PP

Morning weigh-in: 92.5kgs

  • Daily LOSS 0.3kgs / 0.66lbs
  • Total lost 19.8kg/43.56lbs

Watercheck –1.7l

  • oatbran porridge (boiled over in the microwave so I lost vital bits of oatbran!)
  • 3x microwaved eggs (there was an odd number in the box and with the over-boiled porridge, the extra egg warded off munchies!)
  • Cup of coffee with sweetener

  • Chicken with homemade fajita seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon of salsa (as “garnish”) and 1 tbsp fat-free creme fraiche
  • Bottle of Diet Coke

Afternoon snack

  • Bottle of Coke Zero (yes, I tested the difference between Coke Zero and Diet Coke)
  • glass of champagne for my workmate who’s moving to San Francisco

  • Sirloin steak
  • mini babybel light

  • 25 mins cycle to and from work
  • 60 mins brisk walking around the Meadows

So apart from the (small) glass of champagne today to toast my much loved and soon-to-be former workmate, it’s been an interesting day.  Nothing particularly bad, and only one tolerated food – though I did have three eggs for breakfast.  I have to say, following a brekkie like that, I had NO cravings throughout the day.

Another thing I did today to chivvy along my motivation was to fork out the 3 x £43 for membership to the official Dukan website.  I’ve been thinking about it for a while, but until now haven’t really felt any need for it.  But given the last two weeks’ efforts (and to be fair to myself, I did lose 2.4kgs in the last 14 days) I felt that I needed to put something more on the line to make me serious about the whole thing.  I also want to be able to participate in the live chat and ask very specific questions about things like how the age of live yoghurt acts on the carbohydrate content – I’ve read that the older the yoghurt (so long as it’s got live bacteria) the less sugar it contains, as the bacteria feed on it.  I don’t know what the waste products of this are though – Dr My Mum The Bacteriologist, can you help?

A reminder, if you’re thinking about joining up to the official Dukan website, use the discount code “HODDER” for a 30% discount.

I don’t have much to say about the official Dukan website yet, aside from the fact that there are some shocking mis-translations all the way through.  They need someone who is fluent in French and English, who knows the Dukan jargon, and is also experienced with website design and maintenance, to go in there and fix things.  But where would they find such a person? Oh right – that would be me… 😉  I’m just itching to get my hands on the code and fix some of the stupid mistranslations they’ve done, and make the whole thing a bit more anglophone-ish! Yes, to the point of actually emailing them, telling them that I had the skills to make the changes and could do so in my spare time on a freelance basis.

I also really hope that they can alter their system to show that I’m not in Attack, I’m in Cruise…

I was chatting with J about diets and my progress, and I admitted that although I know that I’ve lost lots of cms off my hips and waist, and my clothes are heaps baggier, I don’t really SEE a difference anywhere but in my face when I look in a mirror.  He screwed up his nose, and said, “well, I can definitely see it off your face, but I can also really see it off your BUTT!”

Bless him, he always knows the right things to say.  We’ve found a nice Dukan-friendly steak house to celebrate our 2 years this weekend (mmm, steak.)

Onwards and downwards… 🙂

  1. What a good day for you Charlotte! Good job! 🙂

  2. We have always thought you have been doing really well, steadily losing a couple of kilos every 10 days more-or-less. There was a sense of “losing the plot” the other day — just a wee bit, mind, and it seemed mainly due to elation at achieving your goals, the festival and friends etc. We hope the website membership does the motivation trick for you. It better; it’s pretty dear!

Having said that, it is not a great site, so maybe you could earn back your money by fixing things. We hope so. Maybe they would look more favourably on you because you have membership and a vested interest too. Your credentials are right here, and you might be able to inspire others to part with money and join the site if it sorts itself out.

Certain websites have us screaming with frustration, usually ferry bookings or flight sites — but also property sites and loads more. Why do we all just put with this rubbish? You put in all the details as requested, but return a “nothing found” and make you start again, but try changing something at random on the off chance of getting a result. Please go do Dragon’s den and start a business fixing annoying websites.

Dukan does a projection for you, but you cannot change your start date to whatever it really was in the past, or mess about with your chosen length of attack etc. Please tell them to fix this feature so that dieters can revisit and revise their end dates!

    • OK, a) what were you guys doing up at 2.17am?

      b) yes, it is a very annoying website. Very annoying. I didn’t realise how annoying the members areas were until they gave me full access. Bloody hell. I’m on the verge of asking for my money back… Plus – you can’t send emails asking questions between 5pm on Friday and 5am on Monday. Not just that they won’t answer questions within that time – you can’t even ASK them! WTF?

I think it’s all a bit “French” and they’ve not put enough thought into it.

  3. hiya matey. go girl – get on that website and sort it out!!! x

    • LOL sounds like a nightmare of a site. Hope you keep us all posted. We’re up at all hours just now because our wee boy is going through a phase of sleeping badly, night terrors, and bad dreams (wee soul). We’re a bit knackered as a result of broken sleep patterns. He’s done really well on potty training, and has started nursery, we guess that from his point of view, there’s an awful lot going on in his life right now. He’ll settle soon (and then we can all get back to “normal”, and stop surfing the web until he settles every few hours!

  4. I’ve only just found your Blog, it makes for fascinating reading.

I’m on Day 19 now (Cruise) after just 2 days on Attack. I would have preferred a longer Attack because that really suited me, but I followed my instructions. I find the website complete baffling sometimes. The other day in the live chat someone asked a question and got completely the wrong answer, (I’m a beginner and even I knew she was being told the opposite of what she was supposed to hear)….you just want to scream sometimes, it needs someone, as you say fluent in both English, French and Dukanese!!

I’ll be back soon for more inspiration.

    Sue xx

    • Hi Sue
Just do the attack again. Seriously.

You will quickly realise that this Dukan Regime for losing weight is so successful because it is so forgiving and adaptable. We know some people who have fallen off the wagon and given up because they carry forward baggage from years of diets, and they just don’t understand that Dukan is forgiving (not undoing), that you can get back on the wagon and do it again. This is not a game of snakes and ladders!

Just write off what you have done so far, and start all over again. Do the attack and start cruising.

Soon, your head will start messing with you as you lose weight and you will need to surf round the Dukan biogs looking for things to put your questions to rest.

We’re pretty sure that Charlotte will agree that if you are serious about BEING CURED of obesity, Dukan is the answer in the vast majority of cases.

      • Hi, thanks for that, I wouldn’t dream of starting again, though I do find myself hardly having any veggies on the PV days. I have steadly lost weight easily over the course of the first 3 weeks (1 stone up to now), so it’s obviously working well as it is.

My main problem is that I am virtually vegetarian, so the food choices are limited. I do eat chicken and some fish, so this helps, and of course having my own hens and free range eggs is a ife saver with this diet.

Thanks for replying to my comment.

        Sue xx

Try this yummy recipe which I got from another support site which was set up because we were fed up with the official Dukan FB. Dukan Unplugged has been a great support for me. We use the lowcarbmegastore for our syrups and flavourings. It’s a great service and very quick. Your doing amazingly well Charlotte. I’m in my 3rd week of consolidation and I’m following it to the letter. Scary, but I’m still on target 🙂

Baked custard – hazlenut, coconut, vanilla, carame or maple syrupl!!

The knack is cooking it at a low temperature in a bain marie and not putting it in the fridge afterwards. Quantity below for one person for one day – and easy to multiple up if more of you. Its outrageously quick to make too!!

    Liquidise these together:
    2 eggs
250ml skimmed milk (ie your daily allowance)
Flavouring – I like a good dash of lowcarbsuperstore syrup, especially the hazlenut or caramel – or you can use vanilla essence with some sweetener….. do to taste so satisfies you!

Bake in a low oven – 150 in my fan oven – in a bain marie (ie second bowl of water, just to stop it overheating : it can go tough and little bubbles appear if so)- until set. It takes around 30 mins – as soon as a knife in the middle comes out clean, its cooked – if its still liquid give it a bit longer. (And if not set after 45 mins, put temperature up to 160 as your oven obviously needs it)

Let it cool a bit – I love it warm, and also gorgeous room temperature. Can put in fridge if any left at night but firms up a bit and loses that silky texture.
