Cruise day 131 – PP

Morning weigh-in 88.8kgs (woot!)

  • Daily LOSS – 0.6kg / 1.32lbs
  • Total lost 23.5kg/ 51.7lbs

Watercheck – 1.8

Brunch

  • Oatbran porridge
  • 2x microwaved eggs
  • mug of coffee

Snacky snacks all day

  • 2 or three microwaved cheese crisps

Dinner

  • Chicken tikka kebabs, made from the same recipe as last night, so the chicken had more time to marinate – almost a full 24 hours!
  • a gin and tonic

Exercise

  • 100 minutes on the cross trainer (I had a good film to watch on the iPad, and I just had to know how it ended!!)

OK.  So I know that three slices of cheese is considered non-Dukan, as it’s too high in fat, right? Well.  I’ve been experimenting, see?  I’ve been cooking the cheese in the microwave, in a pyrex microwave-safe glass dish (don’t use ceramic plates, they get so hot that I broke two in the microwave yesterday!)  Once the cheese gets to totally melted and the oil is bubbling away on top and the cheese is pretty hard on the bottom, I get out a kitchen towel and gently dab at the oil, absorbing as much as possible.  If cheese comes away with the towel, it’s not cooked enough.

Anyway, I decided to Do Science, and zeroed out the scales using a piece of kitchen roll.  Then I dabbed up the oil, and weighed the roll again – it had gained about 8g.  There’s about 13g of fat in a serving of cheese, so assuming that most of that is oil and not water, I’ve managed to more than half the fat content per slice.

Plus, it’s totally tasty.

Good gym session today, to make up for the utter slothery of yesterday.  I feel very well exercisedzzzzzzzzz…

Oh and? The whoosh fairy and I are friends again, by the looks of things! 😉

  1. Ach, you’re still rounding off to 0.2kg-day (23.5/131), so no worries there, just the daily ups and downs of the chart.. I guess the most interesting thing for us here is that you have to do this diet on your own — without even a gym buddy, and that is staggering; this diet is mostly mental when it is so long. We’re talking years here, and yet you get stuck in every day and get on with it.

We really admire you for that.

By contrast, we started this diet together as a couple, lost the weight over summer and will be stabilised in say January. The loss was 3 months, and with the consolidation, the whole thing will be within a year for us; we only needed to lose 18kg or about 3 stone. It was a short weight loss period, but we still relied on each other every step of the way.

You really are a credit to yourself and a big inspiration to so many, so well done Charlotte (raised glass of seriously delicious ruby red Cabernet Sauvignon from the Maipo Valley, kept specially to toast your goodbye to the nineties)… cheers!

    • Hehe… Don’t forget the Attack phase – add on 8 days for that. So it’s more like 23.7 (this morning’s weigh-in) / 139. So more like 0.17 per day, but I’m still happy with that. As it stands, yesterday I passed my Lowest Weight in Five Years. My next mini goal comes soonish, with Lowest Weight in 12 years of recorded weigh-ins – 84.2. Get your next bottle of wine ready for that! 😉

You’re right, doing this kinda diet with other people makes things so much easier! Fortunately I’ve had the full support of J, plus the incredible support of folk like you! And as for the gym – I think I prefer to do my workouts solo – I watched a whole film on the iPad last night!
