  • Daily LOSS 0.7kg/ 1.54lbs
  • Total lost 20.0kg/ 44.0lbs

Watercheck –3l (incl 6 cans of diet coke in the place of alcohol)

Brunch

Afternoon grazing

  • some cheddar cheese
  • Mug of tea
  • 2x chocolate puds
  • 3x microwaved eggs with a little light cheddar cheese straight after my walk and weights session

Dinner

  • 2 chicken breasts
  • nibbling on tiny crumbs of flapjacks
  • 2 chicken bajis & 2 vegetarian bajis

Exercise

  • 60 mins walking around the Meadows and to a friend’s place
  • short weights session at the gym – deadlifts and bench presses

We went to help a friend warm their new flat across the water in Dunfermline this evening, and my course of antibiotics means that I need to strictly stay away from booze – hence the 6 cans of diet coke over the evening.  Totally forgot that my friend’s a vegetarian, and she’d cooked a curry with lots of potato and other carbs, so we popped down to their local store and grabbed some chicken breast, which I then cooked under the grill in place of the curry.  Lots of comments around the table that she and I mustn’t ever get too close to each other, else we’d be like anti-matter and matter colliding and explode – “I EAT NO MEAT!” “I EAT ONLY MEAT!!!”

Lots of lolling. 😉

I did feel a little bad for cooking up a dead animal in a vegatarian household though.  My friend was very understanding, bless her.

Staying sober around people who are all tipsy is fun for the first wee while, but it gets old, doesn’t it? At least I can console myself with the fact that I’ve stayed almost totally on track today, apart from the baji and flapjack crumbs…

Exercise

  • 25 mins cycling to and from dentist appointment
  • 20 mins on the cross trainer
  • free weights and crunches at the gym

A Much Better Day today.  Not self destructing, I swear. 🙂  I didn’t get the walk in that I was planning to, but went to the gym instead, got some weights and cardio done. (Free weights, Matt.)

And due to my dentist appt today, I got twice as much biking in as I usually do – always a good thing.

Yes, feeling much more positive about things today.  The real test will be tomorrow – another big meeting at the office, lots of leftover sandwiches, crisps and chocolate biscuits, I fear.  And then I’m out for dinner with a workmate tomorrow evening, but she’s been kind enough to book at a restaurant that does really good Dukan friendly foods – lots of steaks etc.

The one thing that I know will scupper me ever so slightly, is Saturday night.  We’re hosting the Annual Burns Supper this year, which involves Haggis, Neeps and Tatties, or Haggis with mashed turnips and potatoes, for the non-Scot-o-philes out there.  So basically a Carb Fest.  I have also been charged with creating a new Scottish/Burns themed cocktail – I’m the Cocktail Creator.  I’d blog about my concoctions, but you’d all go off your Dukan Diets to try them and then I’d feel guilty.

They’re good cocktails, let’s just leave it at that.

I’m thinking some Blue Curacao for the Scottish theme…

Anyway, carb-fest on Saturday.  Will try to keep things under control. 🙂

Cruise day 142 – PP

Morning weigh-in 90.5kgs (itsonlywaterweight, itsonlywaterweight – keep repeating that)

  • Total lost 21.8kg/ 47.96lbs

Watercheck – 1.8l inc water, tea, & diet coke

Breakfast

  • Oatbran porridge
  • 2x scrambled eggs
  • Mug of tea

Lunch

  • Chicken fajita pieces

Dinner

  • Spicy taco mince with some fat free fromage frais (say that ten times fast)

Exercise

  • 25 mins cycling to and from work

OK.  This is fine.  It’s only water weight.  Last night I had a butt-load (literally) of pasta and bread.

I had a totally on-diet day today to make up for yesterday.  Though I have to say I’m feeling a little hungry now!  I didn’t get all the exercise I’d have wanted – a friend came over so there was no time.

Anyway, here’s hoping I can keep this up for as long as it takes to nip this stagnation in arse…  I’m so ready to see the mid 80s!!  I know, it doesn’t help to go out to fundraising dinners and eat carby foods.  I’m trying really hard to regain that energy and resolve that I had at the beginning of the diet – but it was easy back then, the weight kept coming off.  I’m starting to feel a bit despondent, and perhaps resigned to the fact that this is where my body wants to be, at least for a while longer.

This is actually where my weight loss stopped last time I was on a major health kick, five years ago.  No matter what I did, I couldn’t seem to break through where I am now, not without a lot of sweat and starving.  But I refuse to starve myself, and I don’t want to make sweating at the gym my life.  Another week of this and I’m going to suck it in and follow Matt’s Method – my friend who’s been encouraging me to do some serious weight lifting.  I know that the water weight will fluctuate as my muscles repair themselves, but I’m at the point now where I think my body might need some kind of serious jolt.

Late snack

Exercise

  • 30 minute cycle to and from work, taking a slightly longer route home.
  • 35 minute walk around the Meadows.

OH YEAH!! There’s the whoosh we’ve been waiting for!  I’m feeling more in control now, I think – I’ve not felt the need to raid the biscuits in the work kitchen the last couple of days, and despite the fact that I was tired after I got home this evening, after a late meeting, I still managed to change into my exercise gear and go out for a walk.

I’ve still not managed to get back to the gym for a weights session by myself – I’m still a bit intimidated by the burly big guys hogging all the hardcore weights machines.  They look a bit too testosterone laden, and I’m still an inexperienced “hard core” lifter.  I’m considering booking a PT session with one of the big burly trainers, just so that they can stare down anyone who might decide to grunt at me.  Of course, my friend who took me around his gym last weekend insists that they’re all pussycats and would be delighted that a girl is going for some weights that are a bit less wussy.

We shall see.
